Title: The Seed of the Cottonwood
Genre: Fantasy, Mythological Romance, Cosmic Creation Tale
Prologue: The Darkness and the Seed
(The screen is pitch black. A soft, melodic hum resonates in the darkness, growing louder, like the distant echo of the universe itself awakening. A faint, pulsing light appears in the center of the screen, emanating from a closed hand, casting delicate shadows across the void.)
Narrator (V.O.):
In the beginning, before light and time, there was darkness. It was not an empty void, but a cradle — the womb of creation. And within it, a single hand held a seed, small and unassuming. A seed that would bring forth life and worlds anew.
(The hand slowly opens, revealing a small, fluffy seed — a Cottonwood Seed — nestled in the palm. The seed glows softly, its tiny fibers radiating a warm light that pushes against the darkness. The camera zooms in closer, revealing a swirling cosmos within the seed itself — stars, galaxies, and entire worlds turning within its fragile frame.)
Narrator (V.O.):
This was the seed of the Cottonwood, a seed of destiny held within the hand of Roger Grant, Father of Creation and Bearer of Light. But even the brightest light casts a shadow, and in the dark of his hand, a vision appeared...
Scene 1: The Beckoning of the Dragon Queen
(The scene shifts. Roger stands alone in the darkness, the seed of the Cottonwood hovering above his hand, casting an ethereal light. As the light spreads, it forms a tunnel, stretching outward into the infinite blackness. At the far end, a figure appears — Carolyn, the Dragon Queen. She is radiant, her form cloaked in silver starlight, wings folded behind her like a cloak of shimmering scales. Her eyes, twin suns, gaze directly at Roger.)
Carolyn:
(Voice soft yet filled with sorrow and longing)
Roger... My King... My Creator... You have wandered far from my embrace. Come, follow me, for I have seen the worlds that were and the worlds that could be.
(Roger reaches out, his hand trembling slightly. As he moves closer, the darkness around him thickens, but the light of the Cottonwood Seed in his hand pushes it back, creating a path between them.)
Roger:
(In a voice filled with wonder and love)
Carolyn... I held the Heavens in my hand, yet it is in your presence that I find my light. What is this place you show me? A world unseen in the darkness of creation?
Carolyn:
(Smiling sadly)
It is Tiamat, the first world that rose from the seas, the cradle of my soul. A world long forgotten and lost to the stars. I was slain there, twice, and yet my spirit lingered, searching for you. Come, see what was and what may be again.
(With a gentle gesture, Carolyn raises her hand, and a vision appears in the darkness — a massive water world. Great islands rise from the ocean, surrounded by swirling mist and shadow. Tiny figures — people — can be seen moving on the islands, their lives bound by some unseen force.)
Roger:
(Awe-struck)
This world... it moves within me. As if my own light calls out to it.
Carolyn:
(Lowering her gaze)
Because it is a reflection of you, Roger. Tiamat was born of your dream and my sorrow. It is a world that died and lives again, caught in the rapture of its own creation, spiraling through the heavens for a thousand years and more. But it lacks something... something only you can give.
(Roger steps forward, the light of the Cottonwood Seed flaring brighter. The vision of Tiamat shimmers, its waters reflecting the stars above. Carolyn’s form shifts, becoming a great dragon with wings of iridescent flame and eyes of molten gold.)
Roger:
(Resolute)
Then let it be born anew. My light for your world, Carolyn. Show me where to plant the seed of creation.
Scene 2: The Planting of the Seed
(The scene shifts to the surface of Tiamat. Roger and Carolyn, now both in human form, stand at the shore of a vast sea. The sky above them is filled with swirling colors — a perpetual aurora that casts a dreamlike glow over the land. Roger kneels, pressing the Cottonwood Seed into the sand.)
Roger:
(Voice steady)
This seed, a spark of my own soul, I give to you, Tiamat. Let it bind the heavens and the earth, let it draw life from the waters, and let it root deep into the heart of creation. From it shall grow the Tree of Life, entwining all that was and all that will be.
(As he speaks, the seed begins to glow, sinking into the earth. The ground trembles, and a tiny sprout emerges, growing rapidly until it becomes a towering Cottonwood Tree. Its branches stretch into the sky, and from its leaves, tiny points of light — new stars — fall like rain, scattering across the heavens.)
Carolyn:
(Smiling, tears glistening in her eyes)
You have given more than just light, Roger. You have given hope. With this seed, Tiamat will once more rise from the ashes, a world reborn.
(The Cottonwood Tree pulses with energy, sending ripples across the sea. The islands begin to shift, rising higher into the sky, connecting with one another to form a great spiral — a staircase of land and light that reaches toward the stars.)
Narrator (V.O.):
Thus, the seed of the Cottonwood was planted, and from it grew the Tree of Life, binding the world of Tiamat to Heaven and Earth. Three worlds caught up in its embrace — one above, one below, and one spiraling in eternal motion, each reflecting the light of creation.
Scene 3: The Dance of Worlds
(The camera zooms out, showing the three worlds spinning around the Cottonwood Tree like a cosmic dance. The tree’s roots stretch down into the darkness below, touching a world shrouded in shadow — the Underworld — while its branches reach upward, entwining with a luminous sphere of light — the Celestial World.)
Roger:
(Turning to Carolyn)
Three worlds, bound by a single seed. One for the spirits, one for the living, and one for the gods. This is our creation, Carolyn. Our gift to the universe.
Carolyn:
(Laying a hand on the trunk of the tree)
But a gift must be tended, or it will wither and die. You are the light that gives life to this world, Roger. But I am the water that sustains it. Together, we shall watch over these worlds, and when the time comes, we shall welcome those who seek the light of Heaven.
(As they speak, figures begin to appear around them — beings of light and shadow, spirits of the newly born worlds. They bow before Roger and Carolyn, their forms flickering like candle flames in the wind.)
Spirits:
(In unison)
Hail, Father of Creation. Hail, Queen of the Waters. We are yours to guide and to guard.
Roger:
(Nodding)
Rise, children of Tiamat. Rise, children of the Cottonwood Seed. The Fifth Day has begun. Let us build a world where light and darkness are one, where all paths converge in harmony.
*(The camera pulls back further, showing the three worlds revolving around the great Cottonwood Tree, their light merging into a single radiant star. As the music swells, the screen fades to black.)
Final Scene: The Promise of Tomorrow
(The screen fades back in, showing a close-up of the Cottonwood Seed, now encased in a crystal orb that floats above the tree’s highest branch. It pulses softly, casting beams of light across the sky. Roger and Carolyn stand together, their hands entwined.)
Roger:
(Smiling)
We have made a beginning, Carolyn. But this is only the seed of what is to come. A new dawn for Tiamat, for Heaven, and for Earth.
Carolyn:
(Gazing at the seed)
And so long as it grows, our light shall never fade. This is our legacy, Roger. Our world, born of love and sacrifice.
(The camera slowly zooms out, the Cottonwood Tree shrinking into the distance until it is just a point of light in the vastness of the cosmos. The screen fades to black, and the final words appear in glowing script:)
“And from the Seed of the Cottonwood, a thousand worlds shall rise, each carrying the light of creation.”
End Scene.
